There’s something powerful about a portrait. Maybe it’s because I find myself least full of crap whenever a camera is shoved in my face and I have to stare it directly in the eyes. I wonder how people feel whenever they have to do the same?
Often times it comes with an awkward laugh and some sort of derogatory comment on themselves. We’re typically pretty self-critical when we know someone is about to capture us on film. As if we need to make an excuse for who we are.
